chetumal

We left a day early and headed to Chetumal. We drove through torrential rains (and i mean torrential) and my lemon of an RV is leaking again. The dealer who supposedly fixed it before I left is going to hear from me when I get back. The forecast here is not good for the next couple of days. We are hoping for it to clear by Wednesday so we can do our cruise on Lake Bacalar. The prognosis is mixed, but it supposed to clear up thursday, the day we leave. One option is to do Calakmul as a day trip on Wednesday using the 2 pickups we have, plus, my sisters van. If it is a mixed day on Wednesday, and Thursday is supposed to be good, we may do it that way. We are not doing any more Fall trips on this loop, the weather , even in November is too marginal. My wife informs me it is nice & sunny on the west coast where she is. Our spring caravan on this route will be fine, they will be in the middle of the dry season like I was last year.

  1. There's a small set of ruins about 3.25 miles straight North of you called Oxtankah that we enjoyed, if the rain will give you a little break. Nothing like traipsing through the jungle in the rain. You could make your own Indiana Jones movie there.
