Oaxaca

A very hilly & slow drive up to Oaxaca today. What a great couple that run this RV Park. American-Canadian. Kate, the Canadian half, drove us to vet to have both Tomas looked at and the puppy that Vanda rescued. The problem with Tomas turns out to be a huge abcess at the very back of his teeth we never noticed. Explains why he won't eat. We have to have a bit of surgery done on that, but first he needs about 10 days of antibiotics. We can have the rest done when we get to Melaque where we have a week. He also has a tumor under one rear haunch that is likely cancerous, but since he is 15, we will just let it go. Probably means he has 6 months to a year left. The vet bill came to $20. Vanda's puppy was healthy except for a population of a couple hundred fleas. She got his shots at the same time. I think she is quite happy to have a dog and the dog certainly just won the lottery, as Tomas did 14 years ago.

The puppy Vanda rescued
