Lagoon Breach

This afternoon they breached the lagoon into the ocean. They do this every few months to prevent it from backing up and flooding the town. I knew it was coming when I saw the backhoe going down the beach earlier. I feel sorry for anyone who walked to Barra Navidad along the beach earlier, as many do. It's a 2 hour walk back around the long way. Quite a sight as the lagoon rushes into the ocean. Unfortunately it fouls the bay & the beach for a few days and does not smell great. Tons of water hyacinth out into the bay that washes up & rots. Usually in couple of days there will be Cayman on the beach as they get swept out into the bay as well.
