Canyon Sumidero

We arrived in Chiapa de Corzo after stop & go traffic through Tuxla, despite a 7 Am start. We are dry camped in a bus storage area that Bernie & I found last year (hey it has showers & toilets)

We took the boat trip up Sumidero Canyon. Last February the water was too low, but it was Ok yesterday and a nice sunny day. I have done this trip once before about 8 years ago. it is an impressive trip. The tree like structure pictured below is known as the Christmas tree. It is actually a limestone formation caused by a small waterfall.
